Detroiters Rally, March to Court with “Homrich 9” Anti-Water Shutoff Activists Press conference to invoke Judge Rhodes finding of “irreparable harm” to families deprived of water

DETROIT – Nine nonviolent protestors who put their bodies on the line to keep water flowing to Detroit families will hold a press conference Monday 11:30 a.m. at Central United Methodist Church before marching with supporters to 36th District Court for a 1:00 p.m. rally.

The group is called the “Homrich 9,” because they blocked the Homrich Corporation trucks hired by the City Detroit to deprive tens of thousands of Detroit families of water. The group and their supporters will rally in front of the 36th District court at 1:00 before their pre-trial hearing for placing their bodies in front of the trucks. Part of their defense strategy will be to declare water is a human right. They also plan to invoke Judge Stephen Rhodes’ finding that depriving water to tens of thousands of families caused “irreparable harm.”
