This event is the celebration of a culmination of a body of work that has been in progress for over a year. We will be launching the first of three planned publications to provide factual and visual information concerning the water system, education, and land use. The We the People of Detroit Community Research Collective is excited to share our hard work and analysis with the public. We hope that these tools will not only provide factual evidence of community displacement but also a modeling of cooperative work and self determination to bring about a more democratic and equitable society.

We the People of Detroit is dedicated to community coalition building and to the provision of resources that inform, train, and mobilize the citizens of Detroit to improve their quality of life. We have been on the frontlines of the water justice fight since 2014 providing direct relief to water shutoff victims. When the United Nations Rapporteurs visited, We the People of Detroit was an integral part of connecting them to the Detroit community. As a member of the People’s Water Board Coalition, we are commited to the implementation of the Water Affordability Plan and the recognition of water as a human right locally and internationally.
